A passagem por Dourados teve um motivo especial: festejar as Bodas de Ouro do casal Agenor e Fátima Pereira. Além do convite da celebração, tenho muitos motivos para agradecer, como o carinho com que fui recebida pelo casal, pelos seus filhos e amigos, além da oportunidade de conhecer a cidade.
Dourados, a segunda maior cidade de Mato Grosso do Sul, é uma cidade planejada, com um clima quente e seco, típico da região. Pessoalmente, ainda não sei dizer se isso é positivo ou negativo, mas constatei uma grande vantagem: apesar do calor intenso, a gente não sua. Pode parecer estranho, mas é exatamente assim: um calor escaldante, mas sem suor. Para quem está acostumado com uma cidade onde a umidade relativa média é de 76,04%, isso é bastante inusitado.
Embora a estadia tenha sido curta, o que torna difícil formar uma opinião completa sobre a cidade, destaco a boa experiência que tivemos. Qualquer informação de dados pode ser consultada no site da Prefeitura Municipal, minha intenção é compartilhar impressões informais. Por exemplo, o Hotel Hus (sem nenhum vínculo comercial com este blog) nos ofereceu o melhor café da manhã de toda a viagem, que abrangeu as cidades de Joinville, Dourados, Campo Grande, Londrina e novamente Joinville.
A qualidade das frutas servidas era excelente, com destaque para o caju in natura, diferente dos tradicionais sucos ou compota. Além disso, os doces e bolos do buffet tinham aquele sabor caseiro que tanto apreciamos. Um detalhe curioso foi a placa na porta da cozinha, que dizia: “Autorizada a visita à cozinha.”
O que mais chama a atenção, naturalmente, são os detalhes incomuns. Nas ruas, os pés de manga carregados da fruta se sobressaem aos nossos olhos. No centro da cidade as araras vermelhas indicam a proximidade com o pantanal.
Dourados foi fundada em 1935 e tem o tereré como bebida típica, consumido da mesma forma que o chimarrão para os gaúchos . A partir de 1990, a cidade consolidou-se como um centro de serviços e de agropecuária. Atualmente, conta com uma população aproximada de 1 milhão de habitantes e é reconhecida como um polo educacional e universitário em Mato Grosso do Sul.
