Adria Santos, velocista e medalhista paralímpica com deficiência visual, foi extremamente enriquecedora. Isso pode parecer algo dito por quem quer ser politicamente correto – uma expressão que, para mim, soa falsa –, mas é um tema cada vez mais relevante.
Relatar o que aconteceu no encontro com Adria é o que me resta para chamar a atenção daqueles que enxergam com seus próprios olhos e mostrar que pouco sabemos sobre a acessibilidade para deficientes visuais.
Cheguei no horário marcado, e Cristiano imediatamente a chamou:
“Adria, você tem visita…”
Vê-la descendo a escada sozinha foi o primeiro impacto. Sem mencionar o fato, comecei minhas apresentações: “Eu tenho um blog…” Conversamos bastante, eu de um lado, ela do outro. Sempre falante, Adria contou que voltou a estudar para concluir o ensino médio, faz aulas de computação e dança, cuida da loja e treina.
Por outro lado, eu estava cheia de autoconfiança, feliz da vida pelo post que estava escrevendo, me sentindo incrível por ser recebida por uma grande atleta, até que, de forma natural, ela me perguntou:
“O teu blog dá acesso para deficientes visuais?”
Eu calei. Simplesmente não tinha uma resposta. Eu sequer havia me informado sobre isso. Desmoronei. Imediatamente refleti: Quanto despreparo! O meu, claro. Não havia outra saída senão reconhecer minha falta de sensibilidade. E isso para ser boazinha comigo mesma.
Nessas horas, reconhecer o erro é mínimo que podemos fazer. Tentei me desculpar por algo que não tem desculpa e disse: “Assumo o compromisso de verificar, criar esse acesso para deficientes visuais no meu blog e divulgar esse tema entre outros blogueiros.”
Refeita passamos à sessão de fotos. De forma descontraída, conversamos muito sobre as alegrias e decepções do atletismo paralímpico, sobre filhos, e muito mais. Ela é uma simpatia. No dia seguinte, Adria me ligou. Detalhe: ela mesma gravou meu número no seu celular. Fiquei boquiaberta.O motivo do telefonema foi para dizer que havia conseguido ler o post no blog. Todos os créditos vão para a tecnologia do Blogger, mas senti um certo alívio.
Foi então que Adria sugeriu que eu escrevesse legendas nas fotos e explicou que a tecnologia usada nos computadores emitem um sinal sonoro quando encontram uma foto. Assim, havendo a descrição, os deficientes visuais podem saber o que está aparecendo na imagem. Restou, portanto, mais um compromisso: colocar legendas descritivas em todas as fotos.
Enfim, eu não poderia iniciar este post sem dizer que foi uma experiência enriquecedora. Ela mostra o quanto somos deficientes em entender as necessidades dos portadores de deficiência, e provavelmente não apenas os deficientes visuais.
É uma experiência que não posso deixar de expor, mesmo me sentindo envergonhada, porque o aprendizado foi imenso. Vou transformar essa inesquecível experiência em uma grande oportunidade e contribuir para a integração dos deficientes visuais à blogosfera.
